Congratulations to our first lot of Learner Profile Award winners- JunHee, Rijul, Leyla and Lenny!
Please note that Spelling City and Raz-Kids accounts are now active. The kids have their log-in details pasted into their communication journals. These sites are used as an extra at-home resource to practise spelling and support reading comprehension.
SPELLING CITY: You can access VocabularySpellingCity online or by downloading the SpellingCity app from iTunes, the Google Play Store or the Amazon Appstore. Vocabulary/Spelling lists and related tasks are set weekly on Spelling City. RAZ-KIDS: Raz-kids has a range of eBooks and eQuizzes at just-right reading levels. It is still highly preferable that they read hardcopy books but I may, from time to time, set a particular text for UOI or literacy. If you would like to receive activity and progress reports for your child and send him or her messages, you can register for parent access from me. Once I approve access, you can view reports and send your child messages. To do this, after your child logs in, click on the green parent button at the top right of the screen and enter your email address. Kind regards, Ms. Pagoli All students in 4AP have a username and password to access the IXL site. https://www.ixl.com/ can be used as an extra at-home resource to help reinforce math skills and content taught in class. Login details are stuck onto the inside front cover of their journals.
The following sections under 'Grade Four Number' includes some useful revision points for our first week on basic place value: A.1Place values A.2Convert between place values A.3Word names for numbers A.9Compare numbers up to one billion Personal narratives are a powerful kind of storytelling. When we write about and share those times in our lives that have shaped and moved us, we are inviting a very personal connection with our readers. We all agreed that Patricia Polacco wrote a very important and moving story. We examined the idea that authors have very thoughtful reasons for choosing to write personal narratives. After close reading and discussion, we came up with a list:
We write personal narratives to.... - Remember special and important moments. - Share a lesson or message with the reader – “never give up”. - Connect people through our experiences. - Make people think about issues that may never have occurred to them. - Share knowledge, ideas and facts with others. - Help people understand others’ experiences, difficulties and joys. - Change other people’s attitudes and points of view. We will refer to this list as we work through the writing process to craft our own powerful personal narratives. |
My name is Audrey Pagoli and I am thrilled to be your child’s fourth grade teacher this year. We have so much wonderful learning planned and an incredible team of fourth grade teachers and specialists who will be supporting your children.
