We studied the 'very irregular' verb 'to be' this week. The children did a great job of explaining their thinking on why we use is and was with He/She/It but are and were with They/We/You.
We played an active, physical game where I called out the subject (He/She/It/We/You/They) and the children had to dash to the correct label on opposite walls - Either is/was or are/were. They also had to explain why they had chosen what they did. Some interesting discussions took place as we worked out why some answers had been wrong.
We again talked about mistakes being all part of the learning !
We also started working on Narrative writing this week. We learned about characters, settings and problems the main characters might have. This video introduced a fun way to think about problems and solutions :
