This week has been a BIG and productive week already! Students have wrapped up the last unit with the theme Who We Are and reflected back on their own thinking and learning yesterday. Students have now been engaged in getting excited and generating questions for our next unit, stay tuned! In the meantime, take a look at students' learning journeys from The Who We Are summative. Dear committed 4RMs,
There are a few dates to mark on your calendars this week. Monday, October 24th at 2:00 pm: Ecoventure Information session in the auditorium. Tuesday, October 25th at 12:30 pm: 4RM Class photograph Thursday, October 27th: Professional Learning- No students. Please let me know if you have any questions! Reem
4RMs have been working long and hard at creating/designing/ and carrying out different ideas (or ways) to show our own cultural awareness; as well as spread it to others.
Some students chose to generate posters, others carried out interviews to find out people's stories from their culture ( so they don't have a single story!). Another group is generating a skit, while a fourth is writing out a "Nat Geo" article. The last group is actually generating a game titled: " Are you culturally aware?". AMAZING! All of the above are in the making and nearing their completion: STAY TUNED! One group finalized their posters today, take a look :) Lukas, Jacob, Timmy, Shashwati, & Gayeon: https://magic.piktochart.com/output/17181666-stereotypes https://magic.piktochart.com/output/17182230-cultural-awareness-gk-si Who We Are Unit Words List #2

If you aren’t sure which house you are in, please speak to your classroom teacher. Thanks for your support!! Ms. Thibodeaux and Mr. Charlesworth
Reminder: Home reading: Due on Sunday, October 16th. Have a great weekend! We just wanted to say THANK YOU for being caring and appreciative to our super Ms. E. she was touched and loved the flowers and all the hype the younger human beings made. Here are some pictures! Dear responsible 4RMs,
Below are a few announcements for this week. Update on spelling: Students have NOT received a new spelling list for this week. The reason for this being that we did not have enough time in class to work with the words, and so this week's spelling time was spent on in class 'Word Works'. I will update the Spelling City tasks to include new ones on the same words for this week. What are the options for students to do at home? As stated in our 'Back to School' night, home learning in Grade 4 is focused on Home Reading. Other than that, the choice is for the learners themselves and if need be/specified otherwise. Here are a few options for choices: 1) You can always check our Grade 4 Weebly to find IXL tasks and other options for online learning options. http://gradefourgwa.weebly.com/ 2) We spend a lot of time in class on watching TED-Ed talks and other TED talks. TED talks usually need to be scanned before viewing, but TED-Ed is completely student-friendly. Students could take some time to explore what THEY are interested in themselves. The link to TED-Ed is here: https://ed.ted.com/ 3) I will make a a quick sweep on other online activities students can take part in and hopefully have something up next week. We are approaching the end of this unit, and will be starting our next one next week. As students begin exploring new concepts and ideas, new opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom will present themselves. That's when we will post options as well. |
