One of our 4RMs competed in the 70cm class on Friday and won 1st place by 42 seconds! Good job, Mia!
Here is a video :) https://youtu.be/GZgecmqaIDo Dear 4RM Communicators,
Many parents and students have been sharing their concerns on the use of the online platforms such as IXL and Spelling City in that not many students have enjoyed using these platforms. In an attempt to provide another option and making sure that students are at least practicing some math and literacy skills, I have given them math and language/spelling packets as an alternative. Students should choose either/or to do at home. That being some IXL/ Spelling city or the packets. Please do let me know if you have any questions. Warm wishes, Reem Andreas has been selected as a ball kid at the WTA premeir event and the ATP 500 tennis tournaments that are happening in Dubai. We're excited, way to go Andreas! (P.S. Many of our 4RMs are doing amazing things beyond the school walls. Please do share those with us!) Hugs, Reem
On Wednesday, March 1, all of Elementary will be holding their yearly Student-Led Conferences. This is your child’s opportunity to lead you through their learning journey up until now. The students will be going through their learning experiences with you to model, explain, and share what they have been learning and exploring throughout this year. This experience is your child’s day and it is not meant for parent-teacher interviews or conferences. Showing their learning journey can be done in their home language and gives students opportunities show their evidence of learning through many different ways. It also involves your child bringing you to their different learning spaces around the school, like the gym, music rooms, EAL class, Arabic class, etc. More information will be sent out February 21 and on 23 in the Thursday Newsletter, including how and when to sign up (which will be open on Tuesday, February 21, from https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/GEMS_World_Academy_Dubai_Elementary). Finally, it’s important to note, that during this day, students will only be at school for their conference and learning tour, after which they will return back home. Students are also expected to wear their school uniform and any or all family members are invited to share in their conference. There will be no bus service for Elementary students on that day. 4RM is excited to have you on this day! Here is a message from the PE department. Hope to see you all there! (Go Battuta!)

Best regards,
PYP PE Department Dear 4RMs, We are beginning a new rotation of word works for spelling. No big changes, just a few upgrades to the activities we use in class, that's all (We're spicing it up basically! :)). Some students voiced that they don't enjoy spelling city as much as home so I thought I would share these word works as another option to practice our spelling. Just to reiterate, we do Words Their Way leveled words one week and unit words the next. The below activities could be used as practice for either. Also, I have provided students with a booklet of spelling and Language Arts practice. This is an option to do at home whenever students choose, if they choose. This would just be as a reinforcement. Please do let me know if you have any questions, Warm wishes, Reem Our Grade 4 Souk was a HUGE success!
4RMs showed their entrepreneurial ideas and skills to promote, sell, and track the sales of their products. We are proud to say that we have raised just over 13,500 Dhs. The students unanimously decided to donate all the funds to Dubai Cares for our School in Nepal initiative. Thank you to all our 4RM parents for their support and for joining us on this day! Here are a few pictures for those that missed out. Dear investors and supporters,
Grade 4 will be having it's annual souk this Wednesday from 9:00-110:00 am. Students have been hard at work preparing their business plans, calculating expenses, costs and possible profit. All the groups have decided on the products ( or services) they want to sell. Some of them have decided to sell cookies, or beverages. These will need to be prepared at home and brought in on Wednesday. We will be writing in their daily diaries today what it is they will need to bring. If any items were brought to prepare their products, please do make sure that you send the receipts with the students on Wednesday so that they could determine the accuracy of their predicted costs and profit. Thank you! Reem |
