Parent Resources
Parent ResourcesBelow are some questions and activities that you can ask your child while reading to assist with comprehension
Questions:
-Who were the characters and what are some of their traits?
- What do you think will happen in the next chapter?
- What was the author's purpose for writing this?
-How would the story change if the villain was nice?
Activities:
- Summarize the chapter using only 25 words. (The number does not matter but keeping a low number forces them to consolidate the information and leave out anything not necessary to the plot.
- Illustrate the story or chapter
-Rewrite the ending to a story
-If the villain doesn't have a backstory in the novel, write one for him or her
