Here's what we did on popplet today for brainstorming and developing our persuasive writing ideas!1/12/2017 Mrs. Betty shared a book with us today titled, Henry Hikes to Fitchburg, by D.B Johnson. Afterwards, we discussed which path we'd prefer if we were traveling to Fitchburg. Would you work to earn train ticket money or walk the distance to enjoy and experience the natural surroundings?
Students chose their preferred path and used popplet to brainstorm reasons why they would walk or work. We will be using this mind map in planning a strong persuasive piece. I'd prefer to work for ticket fare, but a lot of kids said they'd walk to enjoy the nature and be outside. Ask your child which one they chose and take a peek at their mind map! Spelling & Vocabulary City.com unit list is up!We learned a lot about the market place during our practice souk with our KG2 buddiesiPad apps and our essential agreements! This is a reminder that the app list sent to parents NEED to be on student iPads. A great deal of class time this week has been spent trying to download or sign-in to iPads. This means that students are not prepared to learn as many of our lessons are based on the assumption that all of the students have iPads with the required apps. Students have been instructed to ensure that parents have the apps downloaded and ready for school. Thank you so much for your support. This is a new initiative by the school and it can be a challenge! If you have any questions about the iPad BYOD program, please speak to Jason Smith or Stuart Walker. Here are the maths and literacy for this unitHow we organise ourselves is a unit all about how and what market forces drive the economy. The consumers' needs and demands influnece the market place everyday. By creating a grade four mock souk, students will be able to experience the strategic decision planning necessary to fullfil the demand of their consumers. Here's what's happening in math. Click on the picture above to try out the different multiplication methods with your child at home. The traditional/standard method is still used in class. In fact, a lot of students prefer the traditional method. We will continue to practice these skills along with learning long division, how to read and interpret data from graphs, charts, and tables. Click here to check out this video on two-digit division and give this method a shot!
Here's what's happening in literacy. This will be the template used in class to kick start our inquiry into writing persusaive text. Parents will be presented with business proposals in the form of a persuasive investment letter. Let's see if our students can win you over! |
